In construction, some of the most important moments happen long before a building becomes visible on the skyline.

For OCON Concrete Group and MAAS Building, one of those milestones was the successful completion of a major basement slab pour for a new 10-storey apartment development in Belmont.

A Construction Operation on a Significant Scale

Over the course of a single day, the OCON team placed an impressive 580 cubic metres of concrete using a double-pump, two-truck feed setup. The operation required careful planning, seamless coordination between crews, and precise execution to ensure the pour progressed efficiently and safely.

From first light, the site was a hive of activity. Concrete trucks arrived in a constant rhythm, pumps were positioned, and crews worked methodically to transform a complex framework of steel reinforcement and formwork into the structural foundation of the building above.

While many people only see the finished structure, it’s often these early construction milestones that best demonstrate the skill, expertise, and professionalism of the teams delivering the project.

Construction Photography & Video That Tells a Story

Our brief was to create more than a simple project record.

Using a combination of drone video, aerial photography, ground-level photography, video production, and interviews with the project team, we set out to capture the scale of the operation while also highlighting the people responsible for delivering it.

Some of the most compelling moments weren’t the dramatic aerial views of the site. They were the smaller details: crews working together, the concentration required during critical stages of the pour, and the craftsmanship involved in achieving a successful outcome.

By combining wide establishing shots, detailed imagery, and cinematic drone footage, we were able to create a visual narrative that communicates both the complexity of the operation and the capability of the team behind it.

Documenting Progress Beyond Pour Day

Returning to site the following morning revealed a dramatic transformation.

The intensity and movement of pour day had given way to a completed slab stretching across the site—a significant milestone achieved and the next phase of construction ready to begin.

Capturing this contrast helped tell the complete story of the project and provided OCON with a valuable library of marketing and project documentation assets for use across their website, social media channels, and future business development activities.
